Your location is a major factor in the day and hourly rates of a decorator. Those based in London for example, command much higher prices due to the increased cost of living in the capital. The latest figures show a £13 difference in the hourly rate of a London based decorator compared with a professional operating in the West Midlands.
While recruiting help from outside the area may seem like the solution for gaining the support of a more reasonably priced decorator, the quote will generally be inflated by mileage costs.
Different projects demand different skills and have different price tags as a result – it’s that simple. A smaller decorating job will be cheaper in price than a larger scale task. The difficulty of the job will also influence pricing, with the painting or decorating of a bedroom significantly cheaper than painting or decorating the hallway, landing and stairs.
