Decorating trends can be slow-moving, after all most people don’t have the time or money to be updating their homes every year. However, what is interesting to see is previous styles that make a mighty come back, versus those that have been grossly overdone and are rightly on their way out.
So, what better time to look ahead and officially clarify what’s coming back or perhaps just here to stay, than the arrival of a new year. From the art of simplification and terracotta, right through to making a statement with red, we’ve uncovered some of the hottest decorating trends set to dominate 2025.
This timeless, warm colour has been predicted to be a big favourite for walls throughout homes in 2025, as one of the colours of the year. Stronger, richer paint colours have seen an influx in popularity due to their ability to be inviting whilst also grounding, terracotta is a great example of this.
When it comes to fittings and furnishings, 2025 is going to be all about keeping it simple. We’ve embraced curves and waves but now the focus is going to be on simplified shapes. However, this applies to colour palettes too, warm minimalism is in. Think natural but earthy, done so to create a welcoming space that feels like home.
If you’ve not heard of this term before, now’s the time to get clued up. Colour drenching is quite literally as it sounds, drenching a room – we’re talking walls, doors, ceiling, and trim – all in the colour of your choosing. Gone are the days of accent walls, now it’s all about leaning into your colour choice and just going for it.
Red has been a dominant trend throughout 2024 and shows no signs of slowing down over the next year. However, there’s a knack to it – it’s all about using this warm colour in small doses to help increase the appeal of the room. A rich and warming ruby red was revealed as one of the colours of the year, so perhaps we’ll see people take this one step further and use it to inform an entire room’s colour scheme.
Last but certainly not least is calming blues and greens – a perfect pair when looking to maintain a classic look but also add more interest to rooms. The gentle shades make creating a soothing environment effortless, meaning these restful hues will be ones to watch (and incorporate into your home) in 2025.
Whether you’re looking to channel your inner calm or start the new year by making a bold statement, there is plenty to play with in 2025. Now all you need to decide is where you’re going to start first.
If you’re looking for the perfect decorator to help you get started, you’re just in luck.
